Grab N' Go

The Grab N' Go nutrition presentations were generously shared by the Tribal Diabetes Coordinator and First Nations & Inuit Health Branch, Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative team in Manitoba. These presentations and handouts are for community health workers to teach community members about nutrition and health. Each presentation is easy to understand and contains speaker notes with helpful background information. 


This 45 minute presentation is about the trillions of gut bacteria living in our digestive system and their role in health.  You will learn about why we need gut bacteria, what affects your gut bacteria, probiotics, prebiotics and what you can eat to maintain a healthy microbiome.

This 1 hour presentation is the first of a two part series on breastfeeding. We will talk about the importance of breastfeeding for mom and baby and the early days of breastfeeding. The presentation includes preactical information and several helpful videos to demonstrate skin to skin and a variety of breastfeeding positions.

The Internet is a popular platform for nutrition information, with seventy percent of Canadians turning to online sources for health-related information. Not all information on the internet is valid especially about health. Four factsheets containing web links for reliable nutrition information have been developed by the Alberta Nutrition Advisory Team. Each fact sheet contains web links for resources on its specific topic. The topics are Nutrition (general), Prenatal Nutrition, Breastfeeding, and Infant Nutrition. Please join the Alberta Nutrition Advisory team for an information session on how these resources will help you find accurate nutrition information in your practice.
